Trinity College Dublin

After an arranged appointment in November 2009 at Delap and Waller Consultants office in Dublin. CERTUSS were invited to assist with the design of a new Science Centre at Trinity College Dublin.

After a number of options were put forward for consideration the final tender details were to supply and commission 2 Steam Generators and a Package Plant Module that would serve a variety of Sterilisation equipment within the facility. Steam production would be required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with consideration being given to optional fuel usage.

The specification was put out to tender and a number of contractors and OEM suppliers were invited to submit their proposal. CERTUSS were invited to work with Davidson and Hardy a local supplier of Sterilising equipment, along with a local installer Concord Boiler Services, as a package to offer the sterilisers, steam plant and installation of the steam facility throughout the site. After evaluation of the requirements, CERTUSS UK offered a tender.

The equipment

  • 1 x 500kg/hr Natural Gas Fired CERTUSS SC Model Steam Generator
  • 1 x 500kg/hr Dual Fuel Fired CERTUSS SC Model Steam Generator
  • 1 x CERTUSS Package Plant Module (Tank sized for Duty/stand-by)
  • Automatic stop/start/blow-down/lag-lead Operation
  • Delivery to site
  • Commissioning

In June 2010, CERTUSS received an order for the supply of the equipment quoted from Davidson and Hardy. Installation of the equipment was carried out by Concord Boiler Services. Commissioning of the plant was carried out in May 2011. CERTUSS still carry out service and maintenance at this site with their resident Ireland Engineer.

This site is also available for any potential CERTUSS UK customers to visit and see our equipment in a working environment, where they can speak to an independent Engineer for an unbiased opinion.

About Our Customer

Trinity College is the sole constituent college of the University of Dublin, a research university in Ireland. The college was founded in 1592 as the "mother" of a new university, modelled after the collegiate universities of Oxford and of Cambridge, but, unlike these, only one college was ever established; as such, the designations "Trinity College" and "University of Dublin" are usually synonymous for practical purposes. It is one of the seven ancient universities of Britain and Ireland, as well as Ireland's oldest university.
