EuroCaps

In February 2013 CERTUSS UK Ltd were invited to tender for a project at EUROCAPS based in South Wales by Moody Plc, who specialise in supplying to the food and process industry. Tender details were to supply, install and commission a Steam Generator and a Package Plant Module that would serve a special jacketed cooking vessel, which was to be used to heat cod liver oil to a set temperature prior to being processed into cod liver oil capsules.

The equipment required was for a new process which EUROCAPS had committed to undertake for a client, with an agreed programme of work. Due to the timescale for the proposed project, a number of urgent meetings were held to establish the correct equipment was being sourced and the set parameters for the process could be met.

Steam production would be required 16 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The proposed steam plant was to be located in a reserved space within the factory plant room. The Jacketed vessel, would be located within a clean room environment and would require a steam pressure of 0.7 bar G. The customer was also requesting a full turn-key supply and installation for the steam plant, with a focus on future expansion. After evaluation of the requirements, CERTUSS UK offered a tender.

The equipment

  • 1 x 200kg/hr Natural Gas Fired CERTUSS SC Steam Generator
  • 1 x CERTUSS Package Plant Module (Tank sized for 2 x 200 Generators)
  • Automatic stop/start/blow-down/lag-lead Operation
  • Delivery to site
  • Installation
  • Commissioning

With the CERTUSS Generator offering a fuel to steam efficiency of >93% and an ability to raise full steam capacity in circa 3-5 minutes, along with reduced maintenance and inspection periods, along with the ability to offer a recommended installer. EUROCAPS decision was to work with CERTUSS.

In March 2013, CERTUSS received an order for the supply of the equipment quoted. Installation of the equipment was carried out by Heartland Mechanical Services, the recommended installer for CERTUSS UK and have carried out many installations on our behalf.

Commissioning of the plant was carried out in July 2016. After 1 year of successful production for EUROCAPS on their new plant, an increased demand was soon requested by their customer. CERTUSS were invited back to site, where a second Generator was ordered and installed by Heartland Mechanical Services, to offer a duty/stand-by facility to cover the increased production hour requirement.

This site is also available for any potential CERTUSS UK customers to visit and see our equipment in a working environment, where they can speak to an independent Engineer for an unbiased opinion.
