Prysmian Cables
In August 2014 CERTUSS UK Ltd were invited to tender for a project by Prysmian Cables. Tender details were to supply install and commission Steam Generators and a Package Plant Module that would serve a cable manufacturing process within their Southampton facility.
The equipment required was to replace 3 x Stones Generators, which had been in place for many years, but were becoming inefficient and costly to maintain. Steam production would be required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on a Duty/Duty-Stand-by system to meet the peak load requirement. Operating pressures for the equipment are up to 29 bar G, this is to ensure that the correct adhesion of the product is achieved during manufacture. After evaluation of the requirements, CERTUSS UK offered a tender.
The equipment
- 2 x 2,000 kg/hr Natural Gas Fired CERTUSS TC Steam Generators (Duty/Duty-stand-by)
- 1 x CERTUSS Package Plant Module (Tank sized for 2 x 2,000 Generator)
- Automatic stop/start/blow-down/lag-lead Operation

With the CERTUSS Generator offering a fuel to steam efficiency of >93% and an ability to raise full steam capacity in circa 3-5 minutes, along with reduced maintenance and inspection periods, Prysmian Cables decided that this was the best option for them.
In May 2015 CERTUSS received an order for the supply of the equipment. Installation of the equipment was carried out by Heartland Mechanical Services, who are the recommended installer for CERTUSS UK and have carried out many installations on our behalf. Commissioning of the plant was carried out in February 2016.
This site is also available for any potential CERTUSS UK customers to visit and see our equipment in a working environment, where they can speak to an independent Engineer for an unbiased opinion.
